Thomas has had another poster triumph, at the SA RACI Physical, Materials, and Polymer Chemistry Symposium, held earlier this week.

Thomas presented his work on Green Methanol Synthesis using MOF Derived Catalysts conducted as part of the Future Fuels CRC.

Congratulations Thomas!

Over the course of 2023 we have been lucky enough to host a number of visiting PhD students at UofA.

Three students from the Falcaro group at TU Graz have visited our labs - Lea Brandner (Nov22 - Jan23), Michael Hafner (Feb23-May23), and Simon Renner (Sept23-Dec23). And most recently, Sofia Kolin from the University of Stuttgart has been visiting the Evans group. Aside from working hard at uni, they have also made the most of their visits to Australia, taking in the sights, sports, wildlife, and food whilst here!

We hope all of our international visitors have enjoyed their stays in Adelaide!

We had a busy time last week with a brand new group photo for 2023, featuring the current Sumby Doonan group (and bonus special guests).

Plus, we celebrated Tyla’s Honours completion following her oral exam, as well as Pol’s PhD completion.

Congratulations to Pol and Tyla!

This week we were treated to some fascinating talks from the 2023 Honours Chemistry cohort, including our very own Tyla Jones. Tyla has been studying Crystallographic Snapshots of Photochemically Reactive Species, and was supported during her Honours year by an AINSE Honours Scholarship. It’s not quite over yet though, with thesis submission and an oral exam still to come…

But in the meantime, congratulations Tyla on an excellent presentation!

This semester we have been joined by third year student Kate Rathjen for her Principles & Practice of Research laboratory placement. Kate had been working with Thomas and Rashid on the structuralisation of MOFs and presented a great poster on her work earlier this week.

Well done Kate!
